Some basic guidelines to brew the perfect cup at home:
Coffee: 21 grams or approx. 3 tablespoons
Water: 336 grams or approx. 12 oz
Water temp: 200 deg F, if you don’t have a thermometer a good trick is to bring water to a boil, take off heat and let sit for about 30-60 sec.
Grind size: The general rule of thumb for choosing your grind is the longer coffee sits in contact with water in the brewing process the courser the grind. For a normal drip your looking for a medium/medium fine size similar to that of table salt.
We recommend using fresh beans/ground on the spot using a burr grinder/filtered water
These are the parameters we use at Totem and it’s a good place to start. Feel free to add or take away where needed, no one know your taste buds like you…..discover what you like.
**This is a general guideline for drip coffee, we will go further into different brewing methods in the future.**
